An Eclectic Southwestern Eatery & Tequila Bar, Agave Restaurant has been an Atlanta mainstay
Photographer, Mark Petko first covered Agave Restaurant in the predecessor to this site (Spoonfed Atlanta) in January of 2010. I thought is was appropriate to visit Agave in January 2013 to see what has changed in the past 3 years. As it turns out, not much has changed and I mean that in a good way. I always appreciate consistency in a restaurant, Agave Restaurant has been a long time favorite of mine because of that fact. One thing has changed- Agave has added Chef Bryan Yockey to their team. Before working at Agave, Bryan was the sous chef at Barnsley Gardens.
If you haven’t been to Agave Restaurant, it’s in the heart of Cabbagetown, across from the Oakland Cemetery, with some great views of the downtown skyline which are visable while walking into the restaurant. I would describe Agave’s menu as Southwestern comfort food. Think spicy fried chicken, slow braised beef short ribs, enchiladas and grilled shrimp over jalapeno/cheddar stone ground grits.
Head to the tequila bar at Agave Restaurant where they have over 100 tequilas and appetizers are ‘two for one’ from 5pm-7pm, nightly.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Agave will be doing dinner and drink specials as well as off-the-menu dining for the entirety of Valentine’s Day Weekend (Feb. 14th, 15th, & 16th). Reservations are recommended.
Tip: For the mobile savvy..check in on Foursquare while there to get a free appetizer on Mondays through Wednesdays.
