I made this yummy Strawberry and Cream dessert. It was actually a huge mistake that it came out a trifle dessert and not a strawberry and cream cake.
Long story short. the cake fell apart.
I'm not much of a cake baker. Sadly, it was even a box cake. 🙁
Sometimes mishaps are a good thing. because this cake trifle is incredibly yummy!
Strawberries and Cream Trifle Dessert
store bought pound cake or white cake mix prepared
1 small jar strawberry jam, I used homemade
2 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
8 ounce cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream or whipping cream
8 ounce cool whip
additional strawberries for garnishment
Combine cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Gradually add whipping cream. Whip until light and fluffy. Keep refrigerated until ready to assemble.
Cut cake in cubes and throw half of your cake pieces in trifle bowl. Top with half cream cheese mixture and spread evenly over cake. Drizzle half of strawberry jam over cream cheese. Add one cup berries, placing them around the sides and middle of your trifle. Repeat with remaining cake cubes, cream cheese mixture, remaining jam and berries. Frost with cool whip and add additional berries for garnishment.
